Loosing The One That You Love

Bill Compton had been waiting on this call for several hours now, the new security firm that he needed set into place immediately, with two progeny's to cater for, he could not be to careful. With the humans still rebelling against vampires he had to take extra precaution. He had a call from Jessica earlier that evening saying that she needed to see him. He found it curious as to why she had called him and not just asked to see him in person.

"Mr Compton, we have received your fax and agreed to your new terms. The price had been agreed upon and your new security shall arrive within several hours. There terms have been negotiated. Is there anything else that you wish to add?"

"As long as they know their duties, I do not see a problem. I do require that a team of several be with both of my progeny's at all times. There safety is paramount" he nodded knowingly.

"Of course Mr Compton, when they arrive they shall respond to your orders"

"Then I do not foresee any problems..Everything has been set up, and i do require complete confidence that everything remains confidential"

"Of course Mr Compton, we ensure that all our clients remain are satisfied with our services"

"Then I thank you for your services"

Bill could hear the door to his office open as he glanced around and saw that Jessica had popped her head inside, as he waved for her to enter as he carried on in his phone call.

"Should there by anything else that you require?" he asked into the cell as he watched at Jessica sat down in a seat in front of his desk.

She looked into his office and saw him on the phone. He waved her in and she entered quietly, head down as she sat in a chair before his desk. Fiddling with her hands in her lap, she swallowed and tried to mentally think on how to word it right. Come out and say it or beat around the bush?

She waited patiently as he spoke on the phone, her eyes drifting to photos in his office. One on a shelf of he and Kiara, looking at one another with such love and such...admiration. It made her eyes burn again as she fought against tears.

"Thank you....I shall require an update on schedule...Do not hesitate to call again" he responded politely into the phone as he placed it back on back on its holder.

Raising a glass of blood to his lips as he drained it leaving but a thin residue on the crystal glass, sighing as he returned his attention back to Jessica.

"I apologize for keeping you waiting, Seems I have been lacking since I returned. Our new security shall be arriving in several hours...Both you and Brianna shall have a security detail each whilst the humans continue to up-rise against us" he smirked "So how did your talk go with Brianna?" he asked curiously.

Instead of bitching about another security detail, she sighed and nodded still looking at her hands. There was an awkward silence and she slowly looked up to him then back at the photo of he and Kiara then stood and shakily reached into her jean pocket to fish out a piece of paper. Now worn as if it had been opened and closed many times, she slowly placed it on top his desk for him to read and sat back down looking at her lap.

"Jessica?" he frowned seeing her pale expression, as though she had been void of any emotion.

Watching as she produced something from her pocket and placed it on his desk.

"Jessica...Jessica has something happened?" he asked curiously, something inside him not wanting to hear the answer.

As he quickly scanned over the article, everything inside him dropped. Reading the article over and over in his head, gone.

He didn't speak, he didn't move. He sat there staring at the newspaper in his hand and she felt the hot tear roll slowly down her cheek. She stood and moved around his desk to kneel before him, placing a hand on his lap and looking down. "I didn't know how to tell you...or what to say, Bill....I'm so...sorry." It came out as barely a whisper but She closed her eyes and could only imagine the pain he was feeling right now.

No, it had to be a lie. It had to be. It was a lie...But he had not felt anything from her in weeks...He did not feel her go....Feel her leave him.

She was dead

"I didn't know how to tell you...or what to say, Bill....I'm so...sorry."

He felt everything inside him die, cease to exist. His eyes becoming heavy with tears, feeling them fall so easily as he could not stop them.

"I need to make arrangements...Her funeral"

He stood up from his chair, discarding the newspaper on his desk as he began frantically pacing back and forth.

"She needs a proper service.....She liked the color blue, blue flowers is what she shall have" he recited as he continued pacing back and forth.

"Bill...it's been weeks...she's probably buried." Her eyes burned with tears, as his own showed their presence in his eyes. She watched him pace and looked down at her hands unsure of what to say.

"She loved you Bill, I know she did. It's not your fault...you couldn't have...I mean..."

She struggled with her wording, struggled with the fact that her friend, one she wasn't nice to most of the time, was dead. Gone, forever.

"Bill? Are you...okay?"

What could she do? How could she help him through this?

"Bill...it's been weeks...she's probably buried"

He didn't want to hear this, he couldn't let it sink in. He didn't want to let himself believe that she was gone, she couldn't be.

"She-She needs a proper service....One that is best for her..She would have liked that" he stuttered.

His hands balled in his hair, clenching them at the roots as he felt himself blow, reaching for the first thing that he could find as he threw it across the room, colliding against the wall as it shattered into pieces.

She ducked when he threw the lamp against the wall, seeing him begin to slowly break down. She rushed to him and wrapped her arms around him, praying she didn't get hurt in the process. "Bill...It's okay...it's okay, we'll find her grave...she's at peace." Tears slipped down her face as she tried to talk to him, to comfort him in any way she could.

Bill felt Jessica wrap her arms around him, trying to comfort him. But he didn't want it, not now. He shook her arms from him, he didn't deserve it, he deserved nothing. He created this, allowed this to happen to her.

"Y-You don't understand Jessica! I DID THIS! I CHOSE LILITH OVER KIARA! I GAVE EVERYTHING TO DEVOTE TO HER! AND SHE DESTROYED ME....SHE DESTROYED KIARA! US!....And now I will never get the chance to say what I wanted to say" he snapped.

He turned from Jessica, not wanting to let Jessica see him break.

".....Leave....LEAVE!..........GET OUT!" he screamed, not really knowing what he wanted anymore

She felt him jerk and free himself from her hug, hurt written over her face as she watched him in disbelief. He began to yell and she backed up, now afraid of him. The rage, the despair, he was breaking down and she was fearful of him. Backing away from him, she tripped over an upturned chair and quickly got to her feet and to the door.

He continued to shout at her and turned his back to her, she felt closed off from him, shut out. Tears rolling down her cheeks as she wiped at them causing them to smear.

".....Leave....LEAVE!..........GET OUT!"

She quickly left his office, rushing out the front door without stopping to speak to James. She ran and ran until she was at the cemetery that separated Bill's place from Sookie's. Crying, she dropped to her knees and covered her eyes. That had not gone well...at all.
