She brushed her hair once more, made sure that her dress wasn't wrinkled and slid her feet into her white flip flops before heading out the door. It didn't take long for her to cross the cemetery and come up into his yard and by the weak "blankness" she felt, she knew something wasn't right. "Bill?" she called as she ran up the steps and to the door; her hand reached out and pounded on it, her ears straining for any sort of sound from inside.
"Bill, are you there? It's me, Sookie." She waited, hoping she'd hear something.... but she didn't. "I'm coming in, okay?" She pulled the extra key out from under the potted plant by the door and slid it into the lock, turning it and then the doorknob before putting it back in its place and stepping inside. "Bill? Where are you?" She still didn't hear anything; focusing her mind, she felt for him, for that familiar blank spot, and realized he was in his room. She walked the familiar path towards his room and pushed open the door, her heart stopping, then skipping, when she saw what lay before her.
"Oh, Bill. What's happened to you?" she cried as she rushed to his side.
