    Money Troubles Empty Money Troubles

Hoyt had managed to sneak away from the rental leaving Amy alone with the boys. He needed to get something done without Amy finding out. With the rent due to Sam this week he did not have enough to cover it. He would never ask his mama for the money so he had no choice. He had not had a chance to speak again to Arlene about some sort of a job to cover the rent while they stayed here. Parking his truck outside of Jack's pawn shop. In his hand he held an old watch that used to belong to his father, it wasn't worth much but he had to get something for it. Hopping out of his truck he headed inside the old pawn shop. Heading straight to the counter he buzzed the bell and waited for someone to come and serve him.

"Well boy I ain't seen you round these parts. How you doing Hoyt?" an elder gentleman approached the counter from the other side.

"Hey Jack, just home visiting my mama. Hows thing going around here?" he replied politely.

"Business is slow, what can I do for you Hoyt?" he quizzed.

Handing over his daddy's watch "How much will you give me for it?" he asked hopefully.

Jack accepted the watch and began a thorough inspection "I can give you...Fifty bucks for it" and placed it on the counter.

    $50?

"I was hoping for more around $200 Jack, come on you know me. It's worth a lot more than that. Please Jack" he begged.

Jack sighed "I wish I could give you more. But business is slow Hoyt, I'm sorry but that is all that I can offer" he admitted.

    $50?

Hoyt sighed to himself, he needed the money "Fine. I'll take it" he grumbled.

Jack reached into the cash register and pulled out $50 and handed it to Hoyt, he was not wanting to hang around so he left swiftly and headed back to his truck. Slamming the door closed as he sat in his seat. He had been expecting a lot more than what he got, he only had a few more days to get the money to Sam. He didn't know what he was going to do.
