Being a Mrs. Empty Being a Mrs.

Post by Jessica Hamby-Fortenberry Sun Sep 21, 2014 12:32 pm

Hoyt was still asleep and she was restless. Stepping down to the first floor, she wrapped her robe around her body and tied the string. Her gaze went to the closed door of Bill's office, she still hadn't opened it since he died. Swallowing hard, she thought about going inside but wasn't sure if she could. Looking down at the floor, she thought about Bill and how much he meant to her. Climbing the stairs slowly, she reached the top and went left instead of right.

Hesitantly, she reached for the door knob and waited a few moments before turning it. Pushing the door open, she was welcomed with Bill's familiar and comforting scent. Closing her eyes, she inhaled and smiled softly. In a blur, she was over at his closet and pulling a shirt down. Placing it to her nose, she closed her eyes again and felt a tear slide down her cheek.

Hoyt had drifted off into a deep and powerful slumber, forgetting on many occasion that he was in fact still human and needed human things - sleep. For what seemed like forever, he and his wife Jessica had fallen asleep in each other's arms. He was where he belonged, with Jessica. Rolling over tugging the sheet his arm instinctively reached out for Jessica, only to find her gone.

Sitting up, rubbing his eyes and yawning as he cast a quick glance at the clock. Pushing back the sheet, swinging his legs over the bed he picked up his pants and slid them on. "Jessica?" he called through hoping that she would call back. Ever since vampire Bill's death he had been trying to help her through this tough time, but he could never truly understand what it was like to loose a maker.

"Jessica?" he called once again. Opening their bedroom door he instantly spotted a light on in vampire Bill's bedroom. Creaking across the floor, he stood at the door but he did not say a word.

She heard him wake and call for her, wiping at the tears on her face. He didn't like to see her hurting or in pain, she tried to hide it unsuccessfully. Swallowing hard, she listened to the sounds of the floorboard creaking as he walked towards the bedroom. She heard his breathing and heartbeat, slowly turning to look at him with a forced small smile. "It still smells like him. I still...feel him?" She said, almost questioning if all this were real.

Placing the shirt back on the bed, she moved over to him and slid her arms around him, burying her face in his neck. "I love you, Hoyt." She said softly, so thankful he was there for her, so thankful he was back in her life. This was how it should have been, always. She belonged with him.

With his arms folded across his chest, he watched the woman that he loved. He wanted to do more to help her, but he could never fully take away her pain. No matter how hard he prayed, it was just something that he could not do. "He was you're maker Jess, he's always going to be part of you" he offered her a soft smirk.

As she wrapped her arms around her, he repeated her actions and held her close. Tucking her hair behind her ear, he gently ran his fingertips through strands of her hair "I love you too Jess" he whispered softly. Placing both of his hands on her cheeks as his thumb skimmed her cheek "You're going to get through this. Vampire Bill wouldn't want to see you like this"

She smiled and nodded, looking up at him. "You're right, Hoyt. I have to move on...I have to just....pick up the pieces." Truth was, Hoyt was what was holding her together. She lifted herself on her tip toes and smiled, placing a kiss against his lips. "Hungry? Human food doesn't smell so rotten these days. I know how to cook a few things." She shrugged and admitted, "Late night tv it's either infomercials or cooking."

Gently kissing her back, keeping a smile on his face. He knew that Jessica was hurting and without vampire Bill here, being in his home kept him alive some how. Although his stomach rumbled, it was still far too early to eat. He just wanted to take Jessica back to bed, hoping that maybe talking about vampire Bill would make her feel better.

Wrapping his hand around Jessica's he let out a sigh "Come with me" he requested leading her out of the bedroom.

She looked up at him in wonderment and curiosity. "Where are we going?" She asked with a big smile on her face, loving that he always surprised her. The last few weeks with him had been nothing but amazing. They barely left the house and Netflix and popcorn had been dinner for a while. Well, for him, not her. She stuck to sipping on his blood here and there.

She wondered if they were leaving to go somewhere, but even as she asked, he only grinned and led her down the hall.

Hoyt heard her question him but he did not say a thing, but kept her hand and guided down the stairs. After being locked up inside these four walls for so long that he knew Jessica had forgotten what it was like to see the outside. But there was something else that she needed to do

Standing outside Bill's office, he knew Jessica needed to do this. "Jess, this is our home now. But this was vampire Bill's...He would want you too be happy" he expressed sincerely.

She looked to her right and saw Bill's office door, then looked back at Hoyt with an almost scared look. "Yeah, I know he would. I--I am happy, Hoyt. I'm happy with you." She smiled and touched his cheek, looking into his eyes. "You can't even begin to understand how happy you have made me." She looked over at Bill's door and said softly, "Why are we right here?"

Hoyt knew that Jessica had been avoiding this since the day vampire Bill died, but she had to do this. Whether he was here or not, this was her home, "Jess, this is vampire Bill's, was his life in this room. And you were apart of it. He loved you more than everything. Don't be afraid to let him go" he offered her a soft smile. "You have to do this Jess" he assured her.

Gently placing a kiss on her lips, he rested his forehead against her's "I'll be in the kitchen" he smirked before heading off into the kitchen

She listened to him and looked down, knowing what he said was right. She had to face this now, there was no more waiting. "I know..." She whispered before looking back up at him. She nodded, closing her eyes as he gently kissed her. Placing her hands on his arms, she melted into his sweet kiss. When he pulled back, she smiled and slowly opened her eyes. "Thank you...." She said before watching him walk towards the kitchen.

Looking back at the door, she inhaled deeply and wrapped her arms around her body. Letting out a slow breath, she reached for the handle and pulled down, pushing the door forward. The creak it made showed how long it had been since she'd opened it. Stepping in, she closed the door behind her and looked around. It still felt like he was here. His presence. Walking around the room, she looked at the bookshelf and ran her finger along the spines of the books. He had quite the collection.

Moving over to his desk, she sat in his chair and her eyes glanced at the photo on his desk. It was one of them, Bill smiling so proudly. She lifted it and looked at it, running her finger along the glass. Pressing it to her chest, she closed her eyes. It was time to let him go.

Hoyt headed straight into the kitchen to make himself some coffee, he knew today was going to be a difficult day for Jessica. Vampire Bill was everything to her and now he was gone. Pouring himself a steaming hot coffee, he raised it to his lips and let the steaming hot liquid glide down his throat. He would be there for Jessica, she was going to need him.

Hoyt would do anything for Jessica. The sun would be up soon and then tonight he would take Jessica to the place where vampire Bill lay. Maybe in time things would return to normal, but Hoyt would wait forever, even if his forever had a time limit.
