“No…something…something is off” she said. She stood outside the main door and inhaled deeply. Yes the smell was just on the other side of the door. She could smell the fear, the desperation and her ears picked up on the sound of a gun being cocked. She looked at the guards and made military signals to them. She made a note to thank Sal for teaching her these signs and the guards instantly responded, flanking her as she prepared to open the door. She knew she had one shot at this. If whoever cocked the gun aimed at her head and hit the spot she would die, but it would give the guards enough time to secure the person. She lowered her form, not like she would make it easier on the shooter. She opened the door and sure enough a gun shot rang out.
Searing pain collided with her side but she lunged at the gun, disarming the man before growling. Ignoring the blood oozing from her side she slammed the man to the ground, her eyes glowing amber while the guards all aimed their weapons at him. It was yet another guard, one of the newer guards hired only a few days ago. “Who hired you?” she demanded her voice a low wolfish growl.
“These damn vampires will kill us all!” he screamed. She rolled her eyes, slamming the idiots head on the floor again, knocking him out. She looked at the other guards. “Anyone else share his point of view speak now.” she growled, letting her amber eyes scan the room. One by one all of them shook their heads or say ‘no’ and she smelled no lies from them, however this was just the day crew, who knew about the night crew that would be switching out soon enough. As she stood she told the guards to take the rogue shooter to one of the several prisons in the sub basement. She clutched her bleeding side, heading upstairs. Calmly she told the guards to leave, stating she would personally guard the corridor leading to the king’s bedroom. She merely cleaned up, checked to see if she had a bullet in her side, which turned out to be a nasty flesh wound, the bullet having gone in and out. She preformed first aid on herself, wrapping her side with gauze and a bandage before taking her spot right outside the door to the King’s bedroom. Her heightened senses would be able to pick out any intruder faster than the other guards, but Sal had instructed the day crew to re-double security just in case that lone rogue guard managed to convince anyone else.
