Keep on Livin' Empty Keep on Livin'

Post by Lafayette Reynolds Mon Jan 14, 2013 3:23 pm

"Just keep on livin', baby." The words echoed in his mind as he slept that night. It wasn't often, but when Jesus would visit him in his dreams he always urged him to move on and continue living. No one could ever replace that man in his eyes. No one would ever compare. It was because of him that he was dead...if he wasn't a fuckin' medium none of this bullshit would have ever happened. They would be together, they would have each other. Now he only saw him in his dreams and occasionally he'd come through and show himself. His words becoming like a bedtime story that kept his hope alive. He didn't want to forget his smell, his voice, the way his eyes glinted in the sun light, or even the feel of his skin against his own. He'd never been in love before, didn't even know it existed. Jesus was living proof that all things were possible...but now, now he was alone. The walls back up around his heart keeping everyone out. It was all he knew how to do. The pain most days was unbearable, but he hid behind his wit and sarcastic tone trying to do just as Jesus said...keep on living. Living without him proved to be a challenge and he wasn't sure he was up for it.

What else did he really have to live for? Tara Mae wasn't speaking to him, she refused to call back or answer any text messages. What he'd done was something she hated, he knew it. After all they'd been through he sat there and let her become a vampire, the one thing she hated most. Out of selfishness, he couldn't loose her too. He'd just lost the love of his life then in the very next breath, his cousin was shot. The only family he really had left that understood him and kept him sane. Tara, like a sister to him, had known all too well what being alone did to someone. He just couldn't let her go..and now, he'd still lost her. Not physically, but emotionally. He kept telling himself everything would be alright....but really, would it?

"Orda up, hookah!" He yelled out to Arlene as he continued to cook and think. The only sounds were the sizzling sounds of the meat mixed with the chatter of the bar.
