A Haunted Past.... Empty A Haunted Past....

She had woke up when Alcide did, and left right behind him. She had things she needed to do, while Alcide was trying to secure the loan for the dream house. Smiling, she pulled into her first stop of the day, the hardware store. She went in and searched for what she was looking for, finally finding it, she grabbed several of them up and paid for them. Going out, she climbed back into her truck, laying the bag in the floor board and then sitting up and cranking the truck. Backing out, she headed further into town, heading to the first of two big home improvement stores. She was in search of carpet samples today, rugs, then she would look at tubs and showers, trying to get an idea of what she wanted in their bathrooms and kitchen. She stopped at a redlight, and began looking around at the people crossing the street, the cars behind her, when her mouth dropped open, and she looked closer in the mirror. The driver in the car behind her looked very familiar, and as memories came flooding back to the forefront of her mind, she let her foot slip off the brake and the truck rolled forward. Hearing a bang on the front of her truck, she looked up, and stared at the man in front of her. He gave her an evil grin and stepped out from the front of her truck and as she passed him, he pointed at her with his finger, and she gunned it and turned the corner, heading in the opposite direction from the store she meant to go to. Pulling into a parking lot, she stopped and laid her head on the steering wheel, then looked around, before dropping her head back. She tried to get her breathing under control, she sat up and sorted through the memories of that night, long ago when she had been young, less powerful, and downright stupid.

It was a warm summer night, and she and her best friend, Mckayla had been out running through the woods. They had been inseparable their whole lives, but Kayla was promised to the pack enforcer. They had sat and talked about what it would be like to be mated and married, what the ceremony would be like, everything that young girls in love thought about. The day had come and the ceremony went off without a hitch, and Kayla was very happy with Derick, the packs enforcer. As time passed, a distance grew between she and Kayla, and she missed her friend, she missed the talks and everything that they had always shared. As time passed, she heard rumors of Derick's infidelity, and how he and Kayla fought, and no one would see her for days, then she would emerge, fresh bruises would be evident. She had noticed that wherever she went, Derick showed up, and followed her. He had spoken to her a few times, and had tried to touch her hair, her face, and she would move away and head back home, anything to stay away from him, he had made her very uncomfortable with his advances.

Shaking her head, she pushed the memories back, she didn't want to remember that night, not here and not now. Alcide knew little of her life before him and becoming a member of his pack, and this was one thing she did not ever want him to know, she couldn't stand the thought of him looking at her with disgust or pity, or hatred should he ever find out what she did. Sighing, she looked around, put the truck in gear and headed to the home improvement store, to finish searching for the samples, hoping the her future with her wolf was not in jeopardy*
