Testing The Waters

Bill had risen earlier that evening his body pulling him from his slumber before the sun had fully set signalling the shutters that covered the windows to rise. He glanced to see that Kiara was still asleep next to him. Slowly peeling her arms from his body as he headed to the grand luxury bathroom suite as he quickly showered and sought out himself new attire for the evening knowing that he had a meeting with Isabel Beaumont. He remembered his promise to Kiara that he would involve her in every aspect of his work, but tonight he knew that he would be breaking that promise.

As he popped a bottle of blood into the microwave and waited until it was ready as he took it from the microwave and shook it up as he took his first mouthful. He could hear Kiara stirring in the bedroom as he turned from the lounge and leaned against the door frame that led into the bedroom, plastering on a smile.

"Good evening sweetheart" he smirked.

Kiara yawned. She rubbed her eyes and looked around. "mmmm... is it time already?" she asked, in reference to getting up. She had never been a morning person regardless if morning came after sundown.

She yawned again and slowly moved to get out of bed. She was still fully dressed from the night before sans her shoes. She had to admit it was one of the few times she'd gone to bed with Bill not naked or not post sex and it was oddly refreshing.

As she stood she smelled the fresh scent of shampoo and soap she turned to see Bill who was indeed freshly showered and drinking his blood. "Ready to go already?" she asked.

"Yes, I cannot afford to be late tonight. I cannot give Isabel anything to be suspicious of, we both know what she is truly like. But since the game has changed I shall have to think more appropriately on my front. Which means making some changes and since the meeting is in the hotel in one of their private function rooms I can still keep you close" he told her.

Taking a large sip of his blood as he placed the bottle on a small table next to him as waist height as he began his stride into the master bedroom to stand in front of Kiara.

"And one of those changes is breaking my promise to you. I shall meet with Isabel alone tonight" he spoke in a soft tone.

He knew that Kiara would not like this, but he was not left with many options.

Kiara looked at Bill. That tiny childish selfish part of her wanted to throw a tantrum over why Bill was going to meet Isabel alone but then the more cynical, broken part of her took over and she shrugged.

"If you feel you must" she said, too tired to put up a fight over something that was bound to happen. Isabel wouldn't be AS dumb as to attack Bill when it would be so obvious her hand would be in it.

"I must. I cannot have her having an opportunity to get to you. If it was her involved in the attack then I cannot have you anywhere near her. If she attacks then I will respond in the only way I know how and I will pay the price alone. I will not allow you to be brought down by my actions" he directed to her "But I will not leave you unable to defend yourself"

Walking towards an unpacked travel case as he could feel Kiara's eyes follow his every step as he slowly unzipped the case and pulled out a small black box as he unclipped it and wrapped in silk was a silver blade as he used the silk to hold the silver handle as he turned to Kiara.


"This blade is pure silver, it has been crafted with a high dose of the Hep V virus. Should any vampire attack this will infect them instantly, far more that what the True Blood will. But use it wisely" as he placed the blade in her hand.

She looked down at the blade. This looked like something Quinn would make. Shaking her head out of that line of thought she nodded as she held the blade. "I'll keep it in mind" she said, but she knew that if push came to shove she would probably use her hands to kill, not a blade.

Seeing as how her evening just opened up she figured she'd re-pack all their things and sit down with some tv while Bill is gone. She didn't want to give him any more reason to start arguments at this point.

Bill frowned as she accepted the blade with ease and did not put up a fight about not coming with him to meet with Isabel, nor did she attempt to plead with him or cause an argument about the whole situation.

"You are very forthcoming about this? I find it very unusual" he quizzed her.

He could feel his cell buzzing in his pocket but ignored it for now, whoever it was could wait until he was ready.

She shrugged "Bill... I don't like fighting with you... if sucking up my own thoughts and comments keeps the peace between us then I'm fine with that" she said as she set the blade down by the bed.

"Besides... what would arguing accomplish? Probably that you'd go to Isabel in a foul mood and be just that much easier to break"

Perching himself on the edge of the bed as he watched Kiara remain standing.

"You think that I will break? And what are these comments and thoughts that you are keeping from me? If you are angry at me tell me, if you are hurt them tell me" he encouraged her.

He hated that she was keeping things from him, but he knew that he needed to keep his head clear for the meeting ahead.

Kiara chuckled. "Bill... as shocking as this sounds I'm not mad" she said as she moved to sit on the edge of the bed and just fall back, her feet still somewhat touching the floor.

"I think I already expected this considering last night so I'm not mad... maybe tired of all the bullshit that seems to happen to us... but not mad, and certainly not mad at you"

"Bullshit? Maybe not a word I would use but I concur. But it is all part of the job, something that we must deal with one day at a time. But once this is all over with then we can return to our semi normal lives" he smirked a little "But I cannot go to see Isabel not fully feeling you, I need to be able to know that you will be safe in my absence" he spoke as his fangs clicked down.

Raising his wrist to his lips as he let his razor sharp fangs pierce his flesh as he felt blood ooze into his mouth as he held his wrist to Kiara.

"I need to be able to feel you" he whispered.

She nodded and took his wrist. She placed her lips around the bite wound and took a large gulp of his blood before the wound closed itself.

She looked at him, her eyes locking on his gaze as his blood woke her up far better than anything else in the room. She pulled her mouth away and wiped her blood stained lips.

"better?"

Bill could not help but hiss as her lips attached to his wrist as he felt his blood leave his body and flow into Kiara's mouth as he could feel their bond strengthen. As he had not bitten too deep the wound took a few seconds to fully heal.

"Much better" he assured her.

Seeing her red stained lips as he cleared his throat and pushed himself from the bed and straightened himself out.

"Refreshments are available in the lounge, do not go outside this room. Lock the doors behind me as I leave. Keep that blade on you at all times until I return" he requested of her.

She looked at him and nodded despite her mind now being flooded with endorphins which were making her a bit...peaky. She had to clear her throat and nod, taking a second to process what Bill said about refreshments and locking doors.

It was always his blood that brought out her more primal self, but she knew neither one of them needed such things right now, not when Bill needed to be focused.

"alright...I'll...I'll just be here when you return"

"Remember do not answer the door to anybody, you will know when it is me" he assured her.

Making sure that he was presentable as he could feel the buzzing from his cell again vibrate against his leg as he sighed and pulled it from his pocket as he quickly opened it up to see that he had a message.

'" ~LSU Update: Texas State Attempts and end run and gets caught with a quarterback sneak.~"'

Frowning as he looked over the message again trying to work out the meaning off the message as he looked at the number and it was not one that he recognized. But as he read it again as he attempted to work out what exactly the message said as he quickly typed out his response as something hit him and he knew;

'"Position noted and team is well prepared and ready to attack quarterback'" 

as he hit send as he glanced at Kiara to see her frowning with curiosity.

"Nothing that I cannot handle, I must be going. Please do not do anything reckless that will endanger your life. I will not be able to remain focused if I know that you will be doing something to endanger your self" he requested.

She rolled her eyes and chuckled "Bill...relax ok? I'm in a hotel room with all the food and porn I can watch...SURELY I will find ways to amuse myself" she said, trying to at least get Bill in a more light hearted mood.

She did however stand and place a quick kiss on his cheek. "Don't let Isabel rattle you ok? She'll say anything to get you angry"

"There is a good movie on channel 117, I think you may find that...interesting" he smirked.

Placing his cell back into his pocket as he glanced at the time and knew that he had a few minutes until the meeting, that would give him enough time to get there.

"I shall return soon" as he placed a kiss on her soft lips.

Turning as he headed the bedroom leaving Kiara with curiosity as to his first remark knowing that she would have to see what he was talking about.

And now it was time for his meeting with Isabel.

Kiara smiled until Bill had left. Without much to do she picked up the remote and turned on the tv to the channel Bill mentioned. She had to scroll through a menu but then found the movie Bill spoke off.

She had to grin. It was a movie about two male warriors who become lovers whilst fighting a tyrant. It was one of her many guilty pleasures...watching real good man love.

She paused the movie and went to the lounge to make herself plenty to eat. This movie would surely keep her well distracted while Bill went off to play politics.
