She hadn’t done much after speaking with Judith. A few days had gone by and Bill remained distant. Again in the past she would feel hurt but not anymore. The roses he’d given her were wilting, the balloons deflating; the cupcakes were hard and stale. Her only real contact with anyone, other than when she’d decked her guard had been her nightly games and chats with King William.
He was oddly charming and refreshingly honest and blunt. He made no qualms about how she was inferior for being mortal and a wolf. He didn’t pretend to like her beyond her blood business. She didn’t mind. It was actually nice to know where she stood with him. She didn’t have to wonder about ulterior motives with him. If he was going to hurt her, he’d do it while staring her in the face.
She looked around the office. Her phone was charging, there was her half eaten sandwich on a plate along with some juice in a glass. She craved a shower and maybe some vodka. It was still relatively early in the night so it wouldn’t be too bad to take a bath instead of a shower.
She stood, stretching and taking one step forward from her chair before something caught her attention. She turned her head but something painful and burning hit her neck.
“OW! What the-“ she said as she touched her neck and felt an unmistakable dart embedded into her skin. Before she had any time to pull it out she felt the drag of drugs. Whatever it has acted fast and she saw black long before her body slumped onto the carpeted floor with a soft thud.
