Hoyt Fortenberry had refused the invitation from Arlene to come down to the the bar's big grand re-opening party. He had Amy and the boys to think about now, things were not the same. And with so many vampires in the area and he could not protect his family from all of them. He had decided to keep Amy, Elijah and Lucas locked in their home. He had gone for supplies earlier that morning stocking up on everything that they would need for a few days.
Amy did not question Hoyt's actions because she knew he was doing it all to protect them. Hoyt had heard from Arlene that vampire Bill had killed Sheriff Bellefleur's fairy daughters. As soon as Hoyt heard that he was not letting anyone step though his door. With a gun resting on his lap as he sat facing the TV whilst Amy and the boys rested.
Hoyt would stay up all night if he had to, he would wait this all out. He was not about to let a vampire take away his family. With the TV on silent he sat in the arm chair across from the front door ready for anything. He glanced out of the window to his side, the sun had set less than a few minutes ago. They would all be close by and coming into the area for this party.
Hoyt was ready.
His family meant everything to him, he even tried to convince his mama not to go but she would not listen. She wanted to show that she was the head of the community since Adele Stackhouse died. His mama was always stubborn, he believed that is where he had gotten his own from. Hoyt knew Jessica would be there with her new guy friend and even though that had cleared the air he still did not want to see them right now.
Hoyt had a job to do, a family to protect. And that was all that mattered.
