The Lone Shape-Shifting Freak Empty The Lone Shape-Shifting Freak

Post by Sam Merlotte Tue Dec 18, 2012 9:42 am

Sam had always been the loner type since his parents had saw him shift to the replica of their family dog, Buster. Coming home to an empty house, all but his room left in tact, he'd suffered in silence always thinking something was wrong with him. High school was hard enough, let's throw in being alone and caring for yourself and being able to turn into an animal. That could raise for some pretty high self insecurities. The varsity football team had always loved to throw spit wads at the loners, calling them freaks of nature. Sam had listened to it, ignored it mainly and occasionally thought about turning into a dog and pissing on the jocks....or turning to a doberman and scaring the crap out of them. Most of the time it made him feel better. But it was when he had a crush on the quarterbacks girlfriend, well that wielded some issues.

It wasn't the fact that he liked her, it was the fact that she--the cheerleader captain--liked him back and told him so. Once she broke up with her jock boyfriend and went to Sam, he was labeled as gay. Rumors circulated he was paying her to date him to keep his gay life a secret. All this coming from boys who found it funny and cool to whip one another with towels in the shower bare ass to bare ass. He never let it fully get to him. Then...while on a stroll with Lydia, the cheerleader, he felt this urge to change. He couldn't stop it and shifted into a dog right there at her feet. She ran screaming and had to leave town before word got spread to fast.

That began his life on the move. Nevada, California, New York, Minnesota. Finally realizing on a full moon he had to change and had no control. That's when he met Charlene. She was all over him as she brought him into a world of gambling, drinking, sex, crime...she was amazed at how he could steal anything without getting caught, but that was his secret. He was labeled a freak by this woman as well after she revealed her secret--she was using him and had a boyfriend. Things ended badly from there.

With years of self doubt and loathing, Sam contemplated suicide many times. He could never seem to find someone to love him for him, and other people just found him weird. He didn't know anyone else like him, or where to find them. Coming back down to Louisiana and settling in a place called Bon Temp, he tried to make a new life for himself. In his lowest points he always picked himself up, knowing that it had to get better. There had to be something out there for him. After the purchase of a little bar, he began to hire staff. Meeting Sookie was one of the happiest moments of his life.

Now that he looked back on things, glad he didn't give up when he wanted or he wouldn't have the most wonderful woman in his life, Luna..and her daughter Emma. A bar that means a lot to him, great friends (even shifter friends) and a life that's most definitely worth living.

**Don't ever give up on your life because of a bully. Do not let them win. You live your life how you see fit and in the end, you'll get the life you deserve...because....it get's better. A whole lot better.!**
