Things to be thankful for Empty Things to be thankful for

Post by Sam Merlotte Tue Dec 18, 2012 10:15 am

Sam laid on the bed of his trailer as he stared at the ceiling fan that spun above his head. He'd spent most of the day getting new furniture and things for the house for Luna and Emma. Once or twice he contemplated buying a house instead, something nearby. But decided to wait until they were ready for that. This was mainly a trial base he assumed. As he laid there with his arms folded behind his head, and legs crossed at the ankles he thought about Luna and Emma and how so very thankful he was to have them in his life. Before he met Luna, he was in a downward spiral out of control. Not able to keep focus on his life as so much bad shit just continued to happen. He didn't know what being a family actually was as the two he had were not good examples what so ever. He never imagined he'd ever be a father, or a husband for that matter. Now, he was both, sort of in some sense of the word. Emma was the daughter he never had and he'd protect and love that little girl until the day he died. Luna, such a remarkable woman, never imaging he could be good enough to deserve her. His life truly had meaning now, and no piece of paper naming them man and wife would change that.

Without Sookie, he wouldn't be where he was. She gave him money out of the kindness of her heart to ensure the bar would thrive, which it did. Plus money to keep for a rainy day with no request to pay it back. The only way he felt he could be even is to make her a partner which he did. She now owned part of Merlotte's and he wouldn't have it any other way. Sookie was the most kindest, gentle woman he'd met and he loved her, over time that love changed into a pure friendly love, but he'd always care for her.

For the short time Tommy was in his life, he was thankful that Tommy taught him how to forgive and how to be there and what having a brother meant. His parents were shitty in most sense of the word, but they did play a viable part in his life ensuring that he knew how NOT to parent. His adoptive parents tried, but not being from a supernatural world, it was only normal for them to be afraid.

Many things in his life had shaped him into the man he was today, some good, some bad. But you can't pick and chose what happens in your life but you can chose how to handle it. Being thankful was something he was, for all things, and most importantly for just being alive.
