Kiara found herself exploring this new…house. If you could call it a house. The place was HUGE. Rooms upon rooms. She noticed there was a lot of open space, a lot of windows. She approached one of the windows and touched it. She chuckled. It looked quite normal but she could tell by the texture and the feel that it was a special light tight window. She could even see by the window sill the pane that came up to block off the sun. However, even as she peered outside where the sky was a light purple color that signaled the coming of dawn that the shutters weren’t coming up. Strange…
She continued to explore and stumbled on the kitchen. Woah…the kitchen was huge, but as she opened the double doors of the fridge she had to chuckle. Yep..this HAD to be her fridge alright. Filled with ALL her favorite foods and guilty snacks. One half of the fridge was hers and Bill; it was filled with her favorite foods, bottles of wine, bottles of blood which upon closer inspection had a very nice label on it. She gasped. She knew that label. It had been a secret project of hers to develop her own line of blood wines, the type of blood that could give a vampire a buzz. Vampire wine. It wasn’t something she’d ever shared with anyone, not even Bill. But if this was the future… then clearly her dream had come true. She put the bottle back in its spot and looked at the second half of the fridge which was divided into food for the toddlers; which consisted of lots of baby food jars, Tupperware filled with crushed fruits and lots of baby bottles. Then the second half was frozen ingredients for things. She was surprised how…motherly the fridge was. She must have changed over the years.
After exploring the kitchen she went to explore the upper level. She was surprised to find that the master bedroom was on the second floor when the nursery was on the ground floor, but she assumed that should anything happen to the twins Bill would be there in a flash. The master bedroom was a wonderful room, decorated in dark colors, with its own stone fireplace.
She took a quick peek around finding a large master bathroom with a very ornate shower. She had to chuckle, the bathroom was huge which she was sure had NOTHING to do with her propensity to enjoy “showering” with Bill. There was also a large separate tub with the remains of burned out candles around. Some things never changed.
After exploring the master bedroom she went to find Bill. It must be close to dawn and he wasn’t in bed which struck her as odd. She followed the faint trail of his scent back to the kitchen. The scent ended randomly on the floor. It took her a moment to realize there was a hidden switch which brought a hidden door and a hidden staircase. As she headed down lights flickered on against the concrete walls. It lead her to a full blown lab. All sterile and clean with vials of things here and there, notes everywhere. She made her way to a computer terminal that required a password. She began typing things, using her most secure passwords which surprisingly worked. She found on the computer the motherload of notes. Meticulous documents of everything from her surgery to give her back her fertility to each and every procedure Bill had to extract his human DNA. She found notes on all the genetic procedures, and notes on something called “bottled sunshine”
It was…amazing. She had somehow developed a way to make vampires temporarily immune to the sun by messing with their genetic code. She was trying to memorize everything. If this was some sort of alternate reality the science sure made sense. She noticed that this computer was encrypted to the max. Nothing could get in or out without her permission. As she typed away she noticed several windows that monitored everything from stock holdings, shipments of her merchandise, bank accounts and even monitoring the surrounding miles of water along the island for anyone around. There was a list of people who did deliveries to the island, ALL by air drop. Deliveries of anything from food and baby products to furniture. Everything meticulously documented. Damn… she must have gotten Bill’s paranoia over the years. And speaking of her handsome fia…well husband now… as she had already seen the gorgeous celtic styled wedding band on her finger with very detailed infinity celtic knots.
