This was wrong. His little chess partner was usually never late. And even if she was she was always prompt with a reasonable explanation for her tardiness. But now, going on two hours with a blank screen before him things were not adding up.
He couldn’t call her. The gods could only know what Compton would do if he found out Kiara and himself were in contact. Compton was childish, immature. He didn’t know how to properly treat a woman of caliber, one who could test his way of thinking. He could only imagine how Miss Griffen was when she wasn’t forced to be meek around him. If she wasn’t a wolf he would be glad to turn her into vampire for the mere chance to experience her at her fullest.
He rolled his head side to side, the goblet filled with still warm Prima Vitae brand blood. The blood Griffen had sent the first time was exquisite. A mixture of virgin human blood with hints of well-prepared blood with citrus and spice notes. Two of his servants were playing the violin and harp nearby, filling the large bedroom with soft music.
More maids, male and female went in and out of rooms, cleaning up the section of Buckingham Palace he lived in. He rolled his eyes in frustration as he reached over to turn off the monitor of his laptop. One night without chess wouldn’t hurt, but it would sure be boring.
“Crispin…” he said in a relaxed tone as he took a sip of the blood.
Crispin, one of his own vampires and a very loyal worker appeared as if out of thin air. Vampires did have amazing hearing after all.
“Your majesty…” he said as he inclined his head.
William lifted his head. “did the latest blood shipment arrive yet?”
Crispin nodded “Yes your Majesty. It is currently on its way from the harbor. It looks like it came with an extra box addressed directly to you”
William lifted an eyebrow. That was interesting. “Anything to tell you its contents?”
“No your Majesty, but judging by size and weight and the labels for its handling I can only assume it is more bottled blood, perhaps in bigger wine sized bottles”
William smirked. Had Griffen given him an extra something? He was curious now.
“Go with Charlie… make sure the shipment arrives perfectly here, and bring that box personally to me” he said as he took another sip of the blood.
Charlie, another vampire appeared just like Crispin. He removed his hat and bowed to William.
“Your Majesty, the Prince and Princess request some vampire blood to treat their child’s colic” said Charlie with a bowed head.
William quirked a brow. The human William and Kate were charming enough, and despite the annoyance that human children brought it was in his best interest to keep the so call human royals happy. They made sure any and all vampire related news remained well, out of the news and allowed him free reign of the west side of the palace and all the underground passages.
“Very well… where is Jacob? Bleed him for a vial of blood. He must earn my trust eventually” he said, referring to a very new, very young vampires he’d made a few months ago.
Jacob appeared as well. Unlike the first two vampires he acted awkward, out of place. He even had a tiny bit of blood on his cin.
"Jacob.. clean yourself up and prepare to be bled" said William as he finished up his glass of blood. Jacob nodded and left the room. Crispin and Charilie bowed and left the room. William only had to swirl his empty glass before a female maid was beside him, filling it from a glass decanter. He would let his nightly chess game slide tonight. He had a few other things to worry about anyways.
