What Happened Before - https://devotedtowriting.forumotion.com/t2299p50-preparing-for-the-arrival-of-the-king
The fire continued to rage as a furnace as the building shook around him as though he was in the center of an earthquake. The fine hairs on his arms sizzled away as new ones had already begun to take their place only to have the same action repeated. Hugo did not know why he was doing this, he hated himself for doing this but he knew that he could not let her die.
Isabel could not die.
Glass shattered as the temperature of the room rose as Hugo ducked and dived between the flames as he sought out the entrance to the basement of the building where he had left Isabel. If he had fully known this is what Compton had in mind for Isabel he would have declined to help him. Compton had lied to him, telling him that his plans were to lock her away in silver for the rest of her immortal life.
He had been fooled.
Tumbling down the stairs as he landed on his knees on the concrete floor that was now hot to the touch.
"ISABEL!" Hugo bellowed as he tried to shield himself from the growing flames. Hugo was not sure how much longer he would last in this furnace as he could feel the fear in him grow and tell him to leave.
But he would not leave, not until he had found Isabel. As he lowered himself to the ground as he quickly spotted the coffin that was in the corner of the room just as he left. Crawling across the floor as he tried to avoid his skin coming into contact with the flames as he instantly began fumbling with the lock to break her free. If he could get her out of here then there was a chance that he could save her, make things right with her. Hugo had never stopped loving Isabel, it was his anger and savage heart break that had caused him to act out.
Finally gathering the strength that he needed to break the lock as the silver chains burned deep into his flesh as he slowly craned the coffin lid open to find it......empty.
"....Isabel...." he whispered.
Hearing a creaking noise from above him as he looked above him as the floor caved in around him as fire engulfed his body as though he had been dipped in flammable liquid. Hugo's screams echoed around him as he attempted to put himself out as his flesh melted into a pool
