Fresh Attitude

Quinn pushed himself out of bed, wincing at the pain running through his body. He was determined to show Jessica that he could beat this monster. He yanked out the IV needle, throwing it on the beside table and pulled his shirt off the chair. He grabbed the chair for support and stood, walking carefully over to the door. He pressed his hand to the plate and was annoyed to hear a buzz and see the door remained closed.

"Vincent.....remind me to thank you for being careful..."

He shifted and curled up by the door, letting his tail flop around until he fell back asleep.

Vincent looked up as a signal lit up on the monitor board for Mr. Quinn. His IV had been removed. Vincent sighed...he knew it was only a matter of time...

"Very well, Mr.Quinn....if you want to do things the hard way..."

He watched the monitor with a smirk as Quinn tried to access the door without luck. Seeing him shift and go back to sleep on the floor, Vincent smiled. At least some things were showing improvement. He had not even tried to shift since the incident with Miss Hamby. Perhaps there was hope after all. He motioned to the attendant by the hallway entrance.

"Have the security lockdown on Mr.Quinn's room removed. If he is strong enough to shift, it is time he was out of bed and walking around. Have a cane and wheelchair placed outside his door. That should get his temper up enough to get him moving a bit more. We need to get his blood pumping and that should do it."

He smiled as he thought of how Mr.Quinn would react to the wheelchair...

Quinn woke he did not know how long he had been sleeping, but he noticed two things right away. The door by his shoulder was open, and there was a wheelchair and cane sitting by the doorway. His eyes shrank to slits as he looked at the deliberate insult with disgust and reached out a paw, swatting the chair away before he even rose up. He shifted back and went to his closet for clothes. He knew Vincent was only doing the best he could, but he was frustrated, so he walked to the Gym. He was determined to push himself and get through this the only way he knew how.

Vincent could not help but laugh a bit at Mr.Quinn's reaction to the chair, but it had definitely had the desired effect. Mr.Quinn was up, and he was focused. He sent word to the kitchen that all food restrictions for Mr.Quinn were lifted, and that a large meal would be needed for the afternoon. As an afterthought, he pulled out his cell and dialed a number that he had recently added to the list.

"Yes, Ms.Hamby, I know you will not get this until sunset when you wake, but I wanted to let you know that Mr.Quinn is moving about on his own and that at this stage, we need to make a few tests, so you are welcome to come for a short visit if you wish this evening. Please do call in advance so that preparations can be made to accommodate the visit. We had to make a few small changes to the security profiles here while Mr.Quinn has been under the weather."

Vincent set the phone on the desk and went back to watching Quinn in his workout. His movements betrayed that he still was in pain, but that would only go away with time and working himself and rebuilding some of his strength he had lost. He sent an attendant into the gym with bottles of water and some small snacks, then went back to dealing with the daily humdrum of running the household with a smile. Mr.Quinn might be a burden when sick, but Vincent saw him simply as a father sees his son. He smiled with humble pride at how fast Quinn was recovering.
