Party time!!!!

"Oh Lord," she muttered again as she continued to hang banners all around the house.

It was her babygirl's birthday; she was turning 7... Where did the time go? When did her precious babygirl grow up? Sam was supposed to be there any minute now with the cake and gifts he had insisted he get for her. "Please hurry, Sam...." she said softly as she stood looking at the decorations. Emma was set to be back home in a few minutes and she still didn't have the cake. The few presents she had gotten (she didn't have a lot of spending money; working at the school came cheap) were wrapped and sitting on the table.

All she needed was her babygirl, the cake and Sam..... A small smile came to her face as she thought about it; she finally was on her way to having a family.

He pulled into the drive, extremely late and he knew it. He saw Luna waiting by the window and he smiled. Emma wasn't here yet, and time was ticking away. He grabbed the Birthday cake he'd gotten from the local bakery. He requested a custom made cake and when he got there realized they hadn't put her name. After arguing with the clerk for 20 minutes he gave up and just paid for the cake. He had her gift wrapped in pink wrapping with a light pink bow to match. He hoped he'd done good. The girls section in toys R us was like the female hygiene isle at Wal-Mart. Awkward. But it was for Emma and he'd do anything for her. He had gotten a little extra gift for her as well. While he was out shopping, he'd stopped in to get Luna something for later...but he kept that in his jeep. He walked up the drive steady not to drop the cake and handed it to Luna as he turned back to get the gifts out the jeep. Rushing back in he was bombarded with little kids squealing and yelling, excited about the party. It was an early party, so he could take his two favorite girls to Chuckie Cheese...Emma would be thrilled. And he'd even thought about letting her bring a friend or two. Things were well at the bar, so he could do it. He walked up behind Luna as he put the gifts on the bar next to her and leaned in to kiss her neck as she put candles in the cake. -Sorry I'm late sweetheart.-

She smiled and shook her head and gave him a duty. To gather all the kids in one place so everyone can yell "Happy Birthday" when Emma walked in...which would be in about 20 minutes. He turned to the kids and clapped his hands together. In a hushed exaggerated whisper he said -OKAY! Let's all get down real low and hide, so we can yell Happy Birthday and surprise Emma...- All the kids followed his lead and he looked at Luna and winked.
