His grand opening was tonight, and she had to miss it. St. Croix Botanical Gardens would be amazing and she knew it. She'd seen the blue prints and designs. He was so amazing with his hands and he loved nature. He knew everything about any kind of plant or flower, he still amazed her. It was hard...these last eight years had been the hardest. Being away so long, seeing him only here and there. It had tested and yet strengthened their relationship. She was distracted, but needed to focus.

This was it...final exams. Taking a calming breath, she went over everything in her head mentally. She'd been studying for months now and knew it backwards and forwards. She could do this...graduation was next week and she was the only female vampire in her class. The only other vampire was an old dude who decided late in life this was what he wanted to do. She didn't want that to be her.

After the 'dark days' as she referred to them, she finally decided on a life for herself, a purpose. James was really supportive, even when she told him the school was in New Orleans. Even running at vampire speed it was still a good three hours. Tulane University was amazing and the night classes helped tons. Vampires and humans had a better understanding. There was even a program on campus for monogamous feeding relationships. She only fed from one girl, Roxie. They had even become great friends. She still thought of Adilyn and always stopped by to see her, secretly of course, when she was in town.

The bell rung to signal the beginning of class as she swallowed hard. She knew the reason she was doing this...and she knew that once all this was over...she could see him again.

"Please take your laptops out and log in to begin your final exams." Her teacher announced as everyone did so. She nervously logged on and the screen popped up, prompting her to begin.

    Here we go...

An apical pulse is palpable at the point of maximal impulse (PMI) in the ____ intercostals space just beneath the nipple.

She read the question and smiled as she answered C) fifth. Okay maybe she could do this....
