Arabella could feel the tears welling up in her eyes but held them back while she could. She looked to Brianna and forced a smile, then turned back to the king and simply nodded.

"As your Majesty commands, so shall it be."

with those words, she turned and walked from the office. She had to. She could no longer hold back the tears and felt them as she walked toward the door. She knew others could see her but she would show only strength to the King. He was getting what he wanted, so let him choke on it in her absence. She would follow his rules but for now she needed to figure out how to tell Jonathan. she climbed in the van, pulling the door shut without a word.

Quinn saw the blood-tears but knew well enough that now was not the time and place. He started the van, turning it to the gate and headed home. There would be enough time once they got home to talk. He wanted to ask her about Brianna, but right now she needed her silence so he just drove.
