Light of day Empty Light of day

She looked up at the sun and closed her eyes as the rays beat down. It was high noon and she wasn't crispy, Bill's blood still in her system. Everyone was happier, remembering when they were human. They even acted more...human. It was the greatest feeling, but still something was missing: John Quinn. So many times she'd wished to be human just to spend the days with him. She wasn't tired, she didn't have the bleeds, and she never felt more happier and free in her life.

Just as she was thinking of John's arms snaking around her waist, she felt arms coil around her and opened her eyes and looked over her shoulder to see James smiling. Relaxing a bit, she let out a small breath and turned back to looking up at the sun.

"It's been years...feels like an eternity since I've seen the sun." He whispered next to her ear. She remained silent and unsure of what to say.

    ~~Later that day~~

She sat on the back patio of Bill's place as every other vampire cheered and celebrated in the non stop party they were having. She had to sneak out for some alone time. Sitting there and looking down, she stared into space and thought about things. Where would her life lead her now? Would she ever find lasting love? Would this effect wear off and she'd have to return to the endless nights and fear the sun?

She heard a click and looked up to see James had taken a photo of her. Smiling with a slight embarrassed feeling, she shifted in her seat.

    "Penny for your thoughts?"

    "Just thinking is all."

    "About what?"

    "About everything."

He took a seat next to her and looked over at her with a wink. She smiled back and looked down at her hands.

"Stunning." She heard him say and looked over to what he was looking at. The photo of her in his hands, she looked at herself and smiled softly. He really was a great guy....but was he for her?
