Discussing Sookie

Hoyt stuffed one of his sandwiches into his mouth as the filling peanut butter spilled from the bread and trickled down his fingers in clumps as it dribbled down onto his shirt.

"Mama is going to kill me" he grumbled.

Tossing his sandwich into the trash can as he sucked every single one of his fingers clean as he turned to his buddy Jason Stackhouse who was sipping on his juice cup.

Sitting on the field as Jason watched as Tara Thornton was beating up on some girl who was calling Sookie names again. He would have done and said something himself but he didn't want to get in trouble again for hitting a girl. He got grounded for a week for doing that to scary Mary last week when she called Sookie a freak.

"Go wash it off Hoyt" he barked at him.

"Is something wrong?" Hoyt asked.

Wiping his sticky fingers on his pants as he turned to see where Jason was looking and he could see Tara screaming at some girl.

"What's eating her?" he frowned curiously.

"That's the girl that calls Sookie a freak because she knows things" he told Hoyt.

Taking a sip from his juice that his mama had packed him for lunch as he placed it back next to the brown bag.

"She is Sookie's best friend and my friend" he told Hoyt again.

Hoyt looked around the field of kids from their class as they played dodge ball and could not see Sookie anywhere.

"Where is Sookie?" he asked Jason.

"Mama and daddy said she is sick" Jason replied.

Standing up and dusting himself off as he looked onto the field again to see the girl that Tara was yelling had was now in tears.

"Sick? But she is always sick" Hoyt commented.

Watching as Jason stood to his feet as he shook his head at his last comment.

"Maybe she is sick, maybe she is turning into a superhero with super powers like Superman or Spiderman?" he laughed.

Jason heard Hoyt make fun of his sister as he pulled Hoyt to his feet and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.

"Don't make fun of my sister, she is not sick. She ain't no freak! You hear me?" he snapped at Hoyt.

"I got it I got it!" Hoyt assured him.

Feeling Jason let go off him as he stumbled back and landed back on the ground as he hit his head and groaned. Rubbing his head as he could already feel a lump forming on the back of his head.

"Good!" he growled at him.

"Jason Stackhouse!"

Jason turned to see a teacher standing there watching his every move.

"Classroom. Now" the teacher told him.

Jason turned to Hoyt who was still laying on the ground as he let a scowl slide across his face.

"Thanks a lot Bubba" he grumbled as he headed towards the teacher.

He was going to be in trouble when he got home.
