Grand Opening (2032) Empty Grand Opening (2032)

She finally did it. The hospital she had been helping build and fund was now complete and ready to open. The nearest hospital to Bon Temp was Shreveport or Monroe, still a good thirty minutes away. Now, the Bon Temp Memorial Hospital was erect and ready for patients. She beamed proudly as she waited for the gigantic scissors to cut the yellow ribbon that blocked the entrance to the door. Scanning the crowd, she smiled at the familiar faces and still felt shocked to see some. Some she hadn't seen in so long. She thought she caught a glimpse of Quinn, but it was probably her imagination. She hadn't really seen him since 2018, then he left town for a while. Then she went off to college and her residency in Shreveport. She would visit Bill here and there and was at his wedding when he married Kiara. There was still tension at times, but overall, things had evened out. She even spoke to Brianna occasionally, but it had been a while.

"Thank you all for coming to celebrate this grand opening, I'm sure the residents of Bon Temp will be happy to know they won't have to travel so far for health care. Bon Temp Memorial will be equipped with Labor and Delivery, surgery, cancer and a behavioral ward. So, welcome home...where Bon Temp Memorial makes your recuperation feel like home."

She smiled after her speech and took the giant scissors, cutting the ribbon as it fell apart. Visitors, fellow doctors and nurses entered the building. She sighed softly and closed her eyes, as she remained outside. The feeling of someone's arms sliding around her waist caused her to smile and place her hand on his. "Hi.."

He ran his stubble over her neck and she opened her eyes, looking over her shoulder at him. "I missed you. I was worried you wouldn't make it." Turning in his arms, she kissed him softly and forgot the world around her. It had been a good fifteen years or so since she and James had been serious and together officially. It had been nice, even distance didn't put a damper on things. Time was nothing when you had forever.
