    Quiet Time Empty Quiet Time

Sitting back in the hot tub as the warm water from the jets swirled around her body; Willa finally felt both her mind and body begin to relax.  Closing her eyes and leaning her head back against the side of the tub, she smiled as her cares and worries began to fade away.  Tara was right; Eric was over one thousand years old and was perfectly capable of taking care of himself.  Her blood bond with him told her that he was healthy and relaxed; well, as much as she guessed Eric ever relaxed.  Perhaps that was why she was finally able to feel at ease as well.

Yes, he would be fine and Willa could learn from Tara until the time that Eric returned.  If Eric didn't have faith that she would survive, and do well, he never would've left her in the first place.  By the time that he would return to her, Willa would've learned all that she needed to know about being a vampire and that his departure had not affected her ability to survive.  She and Tara would go on and become vampires worthy of their bloodline; even though their makers left them.

Suddenly, Willa felt a strange sensation rushing through her body.  The light that she had previously felt, after drinking Bill’s blood at the vampire camp, felt as though it were dissipating from her body; leaving her without the ability to walk in the sun.  Tingles spread throughout her body as she looked down at her arms, seeing them glow a golden hue before returning to normal.  She didn't know how, but she knew that she would never be able to walk in the sun again.  It wasn't something that she had ever truly thought she’d miss until now.

Lurching forward and crying out loudly, the tingling sensation was suddenly replaced with another feeling…..pain; white hot, searing pain suddenly washed over her body as though waves of fire were crashing over her again and again.  It was then that she could see him, almost as if he was really there, standing in front of her.  Eric.  He was the reason that she felt this pain.  He was burning, he was in danger and she could feel everything that he did.  Wherever he was at it was day and he was burning!  Feeling the hot blood tears spill over her eyes and down her cheeks, she called out for Tara but got no answer.  The pain began to lessen, little by little, until there was nothing left.  Where she had once felt Eric’s presence, now she felt nothing but emptiness.
