Amy was still feeling the effect of giving birth to the twins and to be honest he couldn't blame her. They thought they were only having one baby, not two. And Hoyt certainly wasn't complaining about it either. All he ever wanted was a family, a family that he knew his mama would be proud of. But yet he still had to tell her that he was a father and that she was a grandmother. But he had no idea where to begin. He knew that she would automatically think that the babies weren't his, but you could just tell by looking at them that they were his boys. Little Elijah and little Lucas were his pride and joy, and what else could he ever ask for?

He had made a promise to himself, and to Amy that he would do anything and everything to protect his family. He would never let anything happen to them. And that was a promise that he was going to make.

He continued to gaze at Amy who rested through another peaceful night, no babies crying. Hoyt was always on constant alert when it came to the boys. He knew that Amy needed to rest, he did want to call a doctor, but she assured him that all she needed was to rest. Hoyt had promised her that he would not let the boys out of his sight. And he meant it.

He had moved the new large cot into their bedroom, making good on his word that they would not leave his side. They were so perfect, so beautiful, his beautiful children.
